History Young Justice wiki link

The main thing to take away regarding Klarion is that in the Young Justice animated series he is primarily a villain. He is an entity of chaos and uses black magic to cause as much havoc as he can before he inevitably runs away when the going gets too tough, such as if his familiar Teekl, an orange and black striped cat, is harmed enough to require a hasty escape. Klarion doesn't have as many appearances as other villains although he is a member of the evil counterpart to the Justice League, an organization of high-ranked villains that call themselves "The Light." Most members of The Light, like Lex Luthor and Vandal Savage, see their actions as "for the good of mankind" while Klarion is primarily in it for either rare magic items or just to cause a little bit more chaos. After all, it seemed like fun though he usually looks bored during meetings of The Light unless he's the one with something to say.

It's also noteworthy that Klarion is one of the few villains to actually kill another character directly and on screen. In seasons 1, he killed a man named Kent Nelson who was the at the time protector and wearer of the Helmet of Fate, a magic item that held Nabu, the spirit of the Lord of Order and basically the antithesis to Klarion himself. He wanted to take the helmet out of the picture which, as the Lord of Chaos, makes sense. However, Wally West managed to wield the helmet, and with Nabu's help, became Doctor Fate and managed to defeat Klarion for the time being.

I will be taking Klarion from the end of his main episode of season 3, where he battles a group of somewhat rouge teenage superheroes calling themselves the Outsiders. Several young humans displaying the meta-gene had been forced into mutating to awaken their hidden powers. Using some of these teens, Klarion experimented on them by branding them with a magic sigil and magically drawing their bodies together in a large flesh monster amalgamation of his own creation and yes, it was very fucked up. The Outsiders are able to put the pieces together quickly and managed to save the metateens and release them from the spell that kept them together. Surprisingly the teens weren't hurt, but some of them likely had some mental scarring from the encounter.

At the end of the battle, Klarion is drawn into the Tower of Fate, Nabu's own labyrinthine lair, by Zatanna the magician heroine. Klarion panics, fearing he'll run into Nabu himself, and tries to transport himself and Teekl out of the tower before Nabu can get them. However, the Chaos of his black magic doesn't hold the same authority in a tower built to uphold Order and they lose themselves in the tower long into the night.

Personality Chaos. As the Lord of Chaos (or a God of Chaos as he's called himself) Klarion is focused primarily on causing havoc. He likes panic and weirdness. The Justice League fights for order, which puts him at odds with their goals, but he isn't at the forefront of the fight in most instances. Klarion, after all, isn't mortal and doesn't always care to get involved in mortal issues. Basically, if something isn't interesting to him he just doesn't bother showing up.

He also has a sadistic side. He performs experiments with his magic to cause pain to others as well as just to see what happens. He seems to relish the anguish of others but he's not very good at taking punishment himself. He also will cut out as soon as he thinks he's losing the edge of a fight, transporting himself and his familiar Teekl somewhere safe. If he's working with other villains he may also take them along but he has no real attachments to them; if he can't reach them or they aren't useful, he'll willingly leave them behind.

Klarion is also known for being a sore loser. No one likes to lose, but he will throw an honest to god temper tantrum if things don't go his way. He's whiny and selfish, thinking only of himself and his cat. He's also childish in somewhat goofy ways, like how he never swears, instead choosing to self-censor his words by choosing another slightly adjacent word, such as "holy carp" instead of "holy crap."

Generally Klarion's very affectionate with Teekl but he'll sometimes sass her too if he's moody. She's probably the closest thing he has to a heart. In the end, Klarion has no family and would not consider anyone his friend. He's in it for Number One first and foremost.

CR-AU: n/a

Physical description: Klarion presents himself to others usually in the guise of a Caucasian human male with dark eyes and black hair styled up into two horn-like points. His alias is "Witch Boy" and his general childish demeanor indicate he's going for a youthful look. His body is also quite slim, and he stands shorter than the average man. He also has long, dark fingernails that seem almost claw-like.

Sometimes, when he gets really serious with his magic, his appearance changes. His skin turns ashy grey-blue and his face seems to sink in, emphasizing his cheekbones. His eyes also sink to red marbles in his face, glowing a malevolent light. He does not change in shape or size, however.

Klarion sticks to wearing primarily a black suit with a white dress shirt and black skinny tie. The only odd thing about his appearance is the sleeves of his suit, which taper into points and hang low over his hands, showing the red silk lining underneath.

Meta Powers: Klarion is primarily a user of Magic. As a godly entity this is what he uses naturally. He doesn't have to use magic words or a focus to use magic for the most part, though he has used magic circles and sigils before for rituals. Usually, he just wills his ability into existence though he often does something, like snap his fingers, to initiate the spell. His spells are also often accompanied by a red aura that takes the shape of shifting flames or beams out like an arc of lightning.

The level of effects and ability to Klarion's magic seems fathomless. Besides causing pain or destruction, we've seen Klarion create teleportation circles, join people together into a flesh golem, and suffuse his familiar Teekl with power to turn her into a large cat-like beast. It seems his magic can do just about anything as long as he can imagine it, and he has a pretty active imagination.

Klarion can also communicate with Teekl. Teekl only meows back but he can fully understand her as they are intrinsically linked. He can also send her out and look through her eyes, which makes it a lot easier to gather intel. Most people don't think to worry about stray cats wandering around, after all.

Notable/Unique Needs: In canon, Klarion seems to go about as he pleases with little trouble. However, it is shown in season 1, that she serves as an anchor for him in the physical plane. If she's injured badly enough his connection begins to wane and he starts to flicker out, like a candle in the wind. It stands to reason that, if she were to ever die, he would likely disappear from physical existence and be unable to interact with the world. Whether this means he would die or just be out of the picture until he formed a bond with a new familiar isn't out-right stated, but as he isn't a "mortal" in the typical sense it's more likely to be the latter.

Earth AU

Name: Clarence Blakely

History: For the first eleven years of Clarence's life he knew nothing but the joys of an mildly affluent childhood, for the most part. His parents, a middle-aged couple, artists, doted on him and allowed him to explore the world in his own, unique way. They valued individuality and creativity, so his boundaries were quite lax as long as he wasn't going out of his way to cause himself or others pain. He was an only child so he, his parents, and their two cats were all the family he had ever known.

Life was good, until the accident. The drunk driver that slammed his truck into their car completely destroyed the front of the cab, and Clarence was suddenly very alone in the world.

His next of kin, a brother to Clarence's mother that he had never met, came to pick him up the following week with a swear every few seconds. Clarence immediately knew he wasn't wanted and it became more apparent when they arrived back at his uncle's tiny apartment. He never found out what happened to the family cats but he hoped they managed to find a better place to live, somewhere safe and wanted. Not long after arriving, in a drunken, petulant state, his uncle hurt Clarence further by telling him that he wasn't even his parent's child by blood, having been adopted by them as a baby shortly after his birth.

Clarence tried to run away once. He got dragged back to his uncle by police when he tried to sleep on a subway train.

Negligence was eventually confirmed and Clarence was freed from being an unwanted burden on his uncle but enough damage had been done. Feeling his whole existence was a lie, Clarence distanced himself from every situation he found himself in. Foster families were just temporary homes, roommates he had no interest in getting to know or afford to trust. His world was so much smaller than it had once been. Seemingly arbitrary rules were put in place to keep him in line, but he hated it.

For six years, he was carted between a few different homes, sometimes having to change schools to fit in with district regulations. None of his foster parents were horrible, but he never tried to make a real connection. Some of them said he was a sad case, and some thought him creepy.

Having changed schools so often, Clarence also hadn't been able to keep in contact with most of his old friends. Some of them stayed in touch but Clarence wasn't always able to keep ties beyond a few texts or on social media platforms. His grades also suffered. He was once a fairly bright student, though his interested mainly fell to the arts. Now, he barely cares to pass. His grades suffered greatly the first year after his parents' deaths and he was held back a year, which likely didn't help to improve his interest in schooling.

His current foster family, while also not awful, is just as foreign to him as they could be. At this moment, his goal is to finish the last year and a half of public school and be free of all these unwanted ties.

Personality: Clarence is an artistic, imaginative boy who doesn't like having boundaries. Growing up with such freedom loving adoptive parents have caused him to push at rules when they don't suit him. In fact, he despises most rules and sometimes acts out just to try and prove how stupid a rule seems to him.

His parents' death caused Clarence to face some harsh truths he wasn't ready for. The only two people who really wanted him are gone, and now he has trouble trusting others, especially adults. He hates not being taken seriously and had tried in the past to get others to talk to him, not down to him. However, when they push him too far emotionally he can get childish and lash out, which does his bid for respect no favors.

At the core of Clarence's bitterness and anger is fear. He fears death, he fears rejection, he fears abandonment, he fears attachment. He doesn't want to be alone, but he doesn't want to get so close to someone and be hurt by their disappearance from his life. When it comes to fight or flight, he's more likely to run away than stand his ground.

He's also incredibly sarcastic, using his words to also distance himself further from others. However, he never heard his parents curse in front of him and having lived a few months with his terrible uncle has impressed upon him how terrifying words can be. As such, he self-censors his speech out of habit, even when he's frustrated and wants to swear up a storm.

Physical description: Same as canon with some minor changes. Since his hair probably follows a normal level of physics, his "horns" aren't has pointy, mostly looking like unkempt cowlicks. His nails are still long but not claw-like, and he sometimes paints them black.

Your Characters 'Event Memory'? Two people stood before him and a golden helmet floated between them. An older man reached for it but Klarion was quicker, shooting a beam of malicious red magic into his body. The man crumpled, grasping at his chest. And suddenly he was speaking a strange archaic way, gasping while the other, a young boy with red hair, tried to keep him upright.

The old man was dying, but Klarion didn't care. If anything, he was glad for the opportunity to bring him down. Now, nothing could stand between him and--

The old man raised a bright golden barrier between them, shutting himself, the red-haired boy, and the helmet behind a protective bubble. Incensed, Klarion cried out and began throwing shot after shot of red, powerful blasts. They ricocheted off the bubble like nothing.

While the red head attempted to use CPR on the older man Klarion dismissed them from his might, putting everything he had into his attached. He would get the helmet! He would get it and no one would be able to face him again!

Anything else? I feel that Clarence would also be questioning his gender a bit at this age. He has always gone by male pronouns but his adoptive parents never made him feel that he needed to hide his individuality. As such, he's going to start trying out new things with the freedom he gains as he grows older and maybe he'll figure out where on the scale he wants to be depending on the experiences he has moving forward.

First Person (50 word min) or Third Person (250 word min): There was a new pet shop that opened a few blocks from the school, somewhere between a used bookstore and a cutesy breakfast boutique he had always been too nervous to go in by himself. It had been a long time since Clarence had been in a pet shop. Most of the families he stayed with either had a dog or no pet at all. Honestly he wasn't too fond of dogs but he didn't hate them. But they weren't his pets. Just an animal that he would see for a while before his social worker decided it was time to go somewhere else. Or his current guardians got tired of dealing with him.

Pressing his fingers to the shiny glass, Clarence squinted against the light and tried to see inside. He just wanted a peek, but the door next to him opened suddenly and he stepped back, shoulders hunching. A younger looking woman with kind eyes smiled at him.

"Would you like to come inside? We have guinea pigs!"

Clarence's first instinct was to turn tail and pretend he hadn't heard her, but a longing desire tugged in his chest and he found himself stepping into the bright shop. Loud noises from every corner assaulted his ears and Clarence fought a grin from spreading over his face. There was something so freeing about animals and most of the habitats and tanks looked to be big enough for the inhabitants to live comfortably.

"Want to see the guinea pigs?" the woman asked, indicating a corner of the room. "Or is there anything else you're interested in?"

Clarence looked down at his sneakers, rubbing the toe of one against a small red diamond in the tiled floor. "Um... I like cats."

Beaming, the clerk led him to a corner with four large kennels, each with one cat in it. "These are all our cats available. We plan to have a foster come to adopt out their kittens on special occasions but we mostly keep older animals here."

"'s fine," Clarence mumbled, stepping up to a bright-eyed orange tabby. The cat, Buttercup her paper placard read, sniffed at his fingers and tried to brush her head against his hand through the bars. Clarence bit his bottom lip, trying not to smile.
